The mercury hasn’t taken a sudden plunge, I’ve simply run out of current photographs, so I’m posting from the previously unpublished.
These from early February.
.
Road trips normally provide new images but the world here has gone boring shades of brown.

.

Which on a dark, soggy morning doesn’t offer much.
.
While I tried to get excited by interesting folds in the cloud,

.

…it was a bit of a stretch.
.
Even our wildlife isn’t stepping up.
This was a young buck in June ’22.

.

Peanut the fox turns up occasionally but usually after dark or at the end of the driveway.

Will she have a litter this year?
.
She is so beautiful.

.

Will there be fawns?
.
“Hi there! Got any snacks?”

.

Might the wild turkeys return?
We miss their visits.
.
Will there be a parade of squirrel tails?

.

We’ve seen quite a variety,
.

.
You do have to wonder, sometimes, about their parentage.

.

Pale Face

Red Face
.
They’re certainly always hungry!

.

How can you resist such a face?
.
Or a Little Red?

.

There’s never a shortage of skunks.
.
Or raccoons.

.

Chipmunks…

…and bunnies..
.
Wildlife so often provides inspiration.
Like Mrs Plod, the deaf blind possum.

.

And Scooter, the disabled groundhog.
.
Gimpy was a squirrel impaired by some sort of neurological issue.
We’ve seen a crow with a damaged foot and a nuthatch with a bent beak.
They all just carried on in the face of sometimes seemingly overwhelming difficulties.
My friends.
My inspiration.

Thank you, Carolyn, for your moving and beautiful post that melted my heart! I loved all your photographic skills to show us your wildlife friends, especially the disabled ones! May you live forever, Carolyn, you are so needed in the harsh world of many animals.
