Could the weather finally be on the change?
According to the weather forecast, there’s an 80% chance of rain, to continue through Sunday, but the weather map suggests that the front will stop just short of our location.
It would be nice to see the flora refreshed.

“Luckily, my people provide extra grub. Nice bit of green stuff for a change today.”
.

A rare congenial moment. Competition for food is fierce. Presumably, the smaller groundhog is the offspring of the adult. We seldom see them together.
.

Little Red came for a late snack. From the looks of it, she has babies.
Imagine how cute they must be!
.

Nearby, Zoomer was stuffing his cheeks. Many of our friends will disappear soon.
.

The grackles seem to have departed but for this bird which has an atrophied right foot. Despite the injury, it appears to be doing well. In strong light their feathers are beautiful.
.

Crows seemed bemused by the worm exodus on our driveway, as if they suspected another dastardly human trap, but they soon tucked in.
The wild turkeys had enjoyed a good feast, a few days earlier. They have since made another discovery that they are very keen on.
Grant recently made a bonfire from garden cuttings which left a large pile of ash….
There’s nothing a turkey likes better than a good dust bath!
In the second clip, the matriarch struts off with her flock.
.

They marched back past the house with great dignity, spreading a dust cloud in their wake.
Rain will ruin their fun. I mused that perhaps we could set something up in the garage….
.
I never knew that Turkeys took dust baths. You are feeding up your friends for the coming winter, and they all look happy to be eating. The smaller of the two squirrels that comes to our garden has been eating bread crusts I put out for the birds. Someone told me the winter might be bad this year, and we have already had a lot of rain. But today has been a nice 21C.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the interesting photos, especially the ash bath for the birds! The carrot eaters look very handsome and in good shape for winter snooze. There is no predicting how good or bad the upcoming winter will be, as it can change in the blink of an eye…

OMG! There are so many turkeys. I love the videos
Oh, I wish Little Red would show us her babies! And I didn’t know turkeys like to bathe in dust – my innocent (and human) question is: How clean are they really after this episode? Oh well, at least it seems like they had a lot of fun.
Dust bathing helps turkeys to rid themselves of mites.
Of course, that makes sense!
