Happy Easter from the chow line!
.

Groundhogs don’t get Easter eggs. Nice bit of carrot for the new mama.
.

She’s not the only new mother.

Blanche has babies too.
Not that we have seen them yet, but many of our furry visitors are obviously nursing.
.
Including Little Red.

She’s not the original Little Red, but possibly a daughter or granddaughter.
Equally cute!

.

Little Man thinks she’s cute too.
As he’s proven himself to be a wanderer, he is confined to the house.
Now that the weather allows for doors to be left open for the walkers, he gets locked downstairs for the duration of their outing.
I just know he sits down there compiling a complaint.
.
There are other babies too. Grant saw movement yesterday, at the hedge line…
Fox kits behind the garage!
It’s surprising to see them so close to the house and rather near the farm up the hill which is concerning.
Photos not possible yet, but as I sit typing, my eyes stray constantly to that corner beyond the well.
There are at least 4 tiny babies, much smaller than the kits we saw last week.

.

We’ve had quite a change of scene since last weekend.
“I should hope so, missus!”

12th April

20th April

.

Spring is quite perverse!
This is how today started.
Decidedly glum and not seeming likely to improve…

.

But as I sat eating breakfast and playing word puzzles, the window caught my right eye.
Less than 20 minutes had elapsed.
.
It was a morning to relish.

.

The long shadows of morning.
.
As predicted – the trees are in leaf.

And the birds are singing…

.
.

Excited by this, I turned off my heaters.
Then, half an hour later when the sky clouded back over, I turned them on again.
Currently, it is both sunny and cool.
Which is perfect.
.
So lovely photos of the animals you are feeding. And you have fox babies nearby!!! I would be so happy if I could find the fox babies near our cottage. Last spring she had 3 babies, but I didn´t get any photo of them. This spring I try harder to find them.
I noticed that you have also small leaves on the trees. The same here in Finland. It has been really warm, but not it is getting colder again.
Take care!
Thank you, Carolyn, for the perfect post, with interesting bits of everything! There is the sky, the wildlife, eating for two or more, all cute. The weather is improving, and soon your hill and trees will glow.

We had to have the heating on today from midday until 6pm. Still lovely blue skies at 7pm though. Lovely to see all the animals enjoying their food and I look forward to the baby photos if you get lucky.
Best wishes, Pete.
A beautiful post. I read it a few times just for the enjoyment of it. Thanks!
