A bright morning following an ice storm is a spectacle to behold.
.
After dawn the temperature was expected to rise rapidly, making the view a very fluid sort of thing!
Literally.

.

Determined to capture as much as I could, I raced around.
In as much as one could in a foot of snow.
.
The trees were laden with frozen droplets.

.

The rising Sun lit them up like so many diamonds.
.
It had been bitterly cold overnight, so the world was frozen solid and would take some time to defrost.

.

It was so pristine, I was reluctant to walk on it and with such a depth of snow I wasn’t sure where to place my offerings of bird seed.
.
We cleared the patio and I also placed trays on the snow in front of the porch.
It was like the feeding of the 5,000.
The air was full of birdsong.

.

The snowplough had arrived at 4.30 am to clear the driveway. I’m afraid I did not race out with hot coffee.
This is only the second time we’ve needed service this winter.
.
Every time I passed the kitchen window, I took another shot.
I was enthusiastic about it!

.

After all the light was constantly changing.
.
Once the Sun was well above the horizon, the glare factor was extreme!

.

Frozen droplets.

.

Hill house looked especially grand, I thought.
The poor birch trees so bowed by last year’s late ice storm, have bent even further.

.

The bird bath had frozen into a most surprising shape!
.
Baby pines stood proud in their perfect white field.

.

There were a few smaller decorations

Shadowed or not.
.
More frozen drips!

.

A decidedly drippy event.

You seem to be living some place coming close to what others might define as paradise! 🙂
I do love it here and count myself lucky to have found peace here. I bought my house on the internet, you know, which was something of a risk but once I had made the decision to leave Washington State, I was totally focussed. This is farm country and it is a very hard life for such people. There are endless numbers of abandoned farms and homes. They simply get taken over by Nature. There are many eyesores in the form of rubbish that people accumulate around their homes, abandoned cars, tractors, equipment of all kinds. I am not sure what it represents other than depression. It is disturbing. I am not happy about the lot of farm animals either. But there is nothing I can do about any of those things. I mind my own business and I will enjoy all the good things around me for as long as I am able. Nature provides the entertainment and images for my blog.
Such beauty! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Such a beautiful landscape! It’s amazing how the snow gleams – like diamonds indeed. And the pine trees are picturesque – they look very happily dressed in white. And I always love seeing your pictures of little ice drops. Beautiful!
I love to see this when I don’t have to live in it. I could watch it all day, from across an ocean. We had the opposite today, 16C and feeling like early Summer. As your dad might have said “That won’t last”.
Best wishes, Pete.
