Another false alarm

06:48 9th October 2026

On any given day, I’ll find a hundred photos to take.

But when the subject is dynamic, changing dramatically every moment, the camera goes into overdrive.

.

It is very dark when we rise these days and it’s fun to watch the window at breakfast to see what sort of start we’ll get.

.

06:59

Shepherd’s Warning here often amounts to false alarm, but we enjoy the drama.

.

What caused that single very dark streak?

.

Surely something catastrophic must be happening just over the horizon?!

.

07:04

Soon the whole sky was on fire.

.

07:06

Though it was still very dark to the south.

.

07:08

But within moments the sky began to lighten.

.

07:07

One should not lose sight of the big picture.

.

07:08

Although there are so many components to appreciate.

.

A flight of geese came past honking good morning.

(More like: “Oi! Hold the formation!”)

.

07:20

By 7:20 the Sun was getting the upper hand and after all the histrionics, the day settled in quite peacefully. Fine skies at 2 o’clock saw us on the way to collect my computer and an occasional dark cloud did no more than loom attractively.

  1. Amazing skies today, Carolyn. We haven’t had anything like that here, just rain and cloud breaking down into blue skies now as it gets closer to sunset. (6pm tonight)

    Best wishes, Pete.
