A moody day is a gift that keeps on giving.
Monday was such a day. I was constantly at the window from dawn till dusk.
.

Many people seem to share my enthusiasm, so I will post some of the images.
The problem is, there ended up being so many.
.

Each change very subtle, but worth recording.
.

And again, a whole variety of angles.
The close-in shot.
.

Or the wide-angle.
.

Never forgetting to look out the front door.
.

The bank of cloud behind the ridge grew quite dramatic.
.

A series of snouts began to emerge.
It is always important to notice all the details.
.

So much of it deserved close examination.
.

A BA pilot once shared some of the photographs he took from journeys around the planet. They were very beautiful. I daresay they are posted somewhere online, but I don’t remember his name. No doubt many airline pilots take such pictures.
Which reminded me of a quite lovely article I read yesterday on substack:

Some writers have such a gift for painting pictures with words.
.

Sunlight finds that ridge on all but the gloomiest day. My lens often captures birds.
Following this, I tore myself away to do other things.
.

It was not until late afternoon that I recorded another of the day’s many moods.
The weather up here often seems to me quite schizophrenic.
.

It is exciting! Give me this any day over a clear sky.
Unless, of course, I am star gazing which is a whole other excitement.
.
Thanks for the link to that lovely, evocative article. Watching the clouds changing is always interesting. They sometimes drop so low over Beetley that I think if I was taller, I could actually touch them.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the excellent study of the sky and clouds! I love the post by the talented writer!

What a picturesque start to the day. I wonder how it’s possible that clouds that look so threatening can at the same time be so incredibly beautiful. It’s true that a cloudy day offers beautiful moments (and photos) … but there are few things as beautiful to me as South Africa’s gorgeous blue sky.
