.
“I feel like Sisyphus!” said Grant, going out to shovel the latest snowfall.
Temperatures were just cold enough yesterday for precipitation to arrive in frozen form.
Wet and heavy.
Hungry pussycats had persuaded us to rise early, in time to view the dawn…
.

The forecast was wrong again?
.

Oh. Perhaps not.
.

Out on the porch I got a better look at the approaching front.
Washing dishes in front of the kitchen window, I watched it unfold.
.

Storm clouds catch the rising Sun with highly dramatic results.
.

So here we are again. Maybe I should rename my blog:
Sunrise in Cambridge.
.

But how could I not share something so rich?
.

Generally, I cannot look at red and yellow together.
But I coudn’t take my eyes off this.
.

So, is that because this is natural?
That theory doesn’t work, because I dislike red and yellow flowers.
.

Although the flowers I’m thinking about have an off-putting shape too.
.

Calceolaria.
My father liked them.
I can’t look at them.
.

All sorts of patterns bother me, mostly those that are small and repetitive. Is it to do with eyesight, the brain, a combination? Maybe it’s psychological.
It is not a problem, just a curiosity.
.

A more annoying curiosity is my propensity for causing my camera to fail at the most perplexing moments.
The early-bird groundhog popped up yesterday and I grabbed the above uninspiring shot.
.

Moments later, the groundhog found a more interesting snack but I was unable to focus the camera.
Later, when I sat down to figure it out, I discovered that the focus lever had moved from auto to manual, though how is another question.
.

Before long everything was snowed in again, including the entrance to the groundhog burrow but presumably the poor creature was able to dig its way back in.
That morning Grant was again at his seemingly unending task, clearing the walkways.
However, the big thaw is setting in…
.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the amusing thoughts and excellent sunrise, the hungry groundhog and hard-working Grand! And your dislike of flowers in colours not to your liking!? It must be your brain!
Joanna
Glorious sunrise pictures! And I will not complain about snow clearing around here after seeing your mountains of snow! Poor Grant! Welcome thaw. Here in Missouri we are in mud season, which is miserable in its own way – certainly not picturesque – but preferable to snow for chores.
Picture like the first always remind me of the man who complained about the gulf coast’s soupy air and the old Cajun’s reply – “True, we has the soup, but ain’t never heard a no one throwin’ their back out shovelin’ humidity.”
