The Snow Moon rose on Sunday night just as we were dishing up cat dinners.
Urged to go outside for a photograph, I declined…

…watching instead from inside a nice warm living room.

Earlier, while sightseeing we’d found ourselves on Wilbur Road passing The Car Emporium, a repository of vintage cars.

It would have been great to get out and poke around for some better images, but it’s the sort of place you don’t feel inclined to hang about.
This isn’t a matter of being paranoid. Not long ago, a woman was shot dead not far from here, merely for trying to turn her car around when she arrived in the wrong driveway.
At one time, The Car Emporium was reportedly a reputable dealership that offered for sale a range of pre-owned vehicles. From the looks of it, business ceased some time back. It’s another of those curiosities we often come across like the railroad siding full of abandoned freight cars.
The countryside is littered with abandoned things; houses, farms and factories, and all manner of mechanical equipment in fields and beside roads.

It is very unlikely, since I don’t play the lottery, but if I won and if it was a lot of money, I’d get all of this stuff cleaned up, demolish what couldn’t be saved and recycle whatever could be.
It is an offense against Nature to use this beautiful land as a massive dump site.

Icicles are a much more pleasant sight but they are proving hard to photograph.
Usually because we are driving by and can’t stop.

Coming back from Greenwich we took a quick detour down to the lower weir where the overhanging trees were thick with ice.
Your can see a row of icicles extending from the roof.

The telephoto could not get around obscuring branches.
Another common problem!

To me, Greenwich looks more picturesque in Winter.

Access to the upper weir is restricted now, which is a shame because you could walk out over the river to get a good view of the Battenkill and look down at the rushing water.

Because of the intense cold it seems that Niagara Falls is partly frozen now and I would love to see it but the trip is just too far.

Many years ago in New Mexico we in the middle of the night to a full moon shining through snowy skies. Magical.
The photos are lovely.
But I could never even consider living in a country where someone was shot dead for turning around in a driveway. How can there be a ‘wrong’ driveway, if you are lost? You live in a madhouse.

Wow, that first photo of the moon is incredibly beautiful! And even though Battenkill is MUCH smaller than Niagara Falls, it is still very picturesque.
