A bit of snow doesn’t half change the look of things.
.

It also brings lots of birds to the feeders.
In the end we got about a foot of the stuff which is a respectable amount. I like snow, but will concede that it is a bit of a nuisance. Grant spent some time dealing with it.
However I have a few pictures from before all that happened…
.

At the end of November a gentler weather front came through with pretty clouds.
.

That deposited a mere dusting of snow which is pleasantly decorative.
The following day was splendid and Grant was keen to make another expedition.
.

Back up route 22 we went. Going north, we thought we might see more snow on the ground.
.

But except on higher elevations, we saw almost none.
.

We’d come this way only a week before, but despite occasional griping at slow drivers, we had enjoyed this route. Maybe I’d not expected to repeat the trip quite so soon, but these outings provide a very welcome distraction which is becoming more and more necessary.
.

Farms are picturesque and countless.
But what a tough life farmers have.
.

During our initial visit, we’d missed Gage Road which leads to a viewing platform that overlooks an expansive wetland. Lake Champlain is beyond those trees and at the base of the distant hills.
.

The fields, we were told, are sometimes full of geese. It’s always good to converse with locals!
A nice lady gave me the name of a birding site to follow on Facebook which will be useful.
.

This day a stiff wind made viewing geese unlikely, but despite the chill it was good to be out.
.

We moved on to another location where we enjoyed a warm cup of tea from our Yeti flask with our picnic lunch and then I took a lot more pictures….
.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the update on winter and snow coming. I like the photos of the farms and the birds, also the clouds, but snowy fields leave me cold.

That looks like a lot of snow to me. I’m glad we don’t have that in Beetley. I looked up where to see snow geese, and it suggested Finger Lakes. You may have already been there, or it might be too far from you. (I looked it up, and it seems to be over 200 miles from Cambridge. So, too far.)
Best wishes, Pete.
I sometimes forget how similar both sides of the lake valley are. I wonder whether most of the geese may have moved on.
I’m expecting a super snowman this year!
Hmm, so much snow so early in the season … I have to admit; I can’t wait for your snow photos. But the photos in this post are equally enjoyable – the clouds, blue sky, and dark mountains make it picture-perfect.
