Another day, another dawn. This one was quite different.
It was modest enough to begin with.
.

And it didn’t become nearly as flamboyant as some.
If I ever catch up, I have one or two recent examples of those to share.
Curiously, I found a photo that I took of a very similar sunrise October 25th 2024.
.

When I got up on this morning, I had no particular plans for the day.
In truth I seldom do unless there is an appointment on the calendar.
.

Plans are subject to cancellation. Or ruination.
It’s why I prefer to be spontaneous. Think of something and do it!
.

Retirement makes it much easier to live that way.
So when Tuesday promised fair weather and a long drive was proposed…
.

It was still too soon to expect sightings of snow geese, though erroneous information did suggest we might see some. However, after consulting an atlas we were keen on exploring a different route to Lake Champlain.
.

Trekking over to Wilton to get on the interstate takes some 45 minutes. Instead we would get straight on route 22 in Cambridge. It would be much slower going but promised to be more scenic and we were not in a tearing hurry, after all.
.

This part of the road had been recently resurfaced which was a bonus!
.

As we wound through the Adirondacks, benign clouds drifted overhead, adding definition to the colourful scenery.
.

Soon, though, a sharp wind hurled leaves across the road.
.

It grew quite dark
.

We began to wonder if there would be a snow shower.
.

Some impressive clouds rolled over.
.

But they were just playing with us.
.

Of course, I was captivated by the game.
.

At this point we’d been on the road just ninety minutes and we had miles to go…
.
I love Rt 22! Always beautiful!
Thank you, Carolyn, for your excellent photographic update of enjoying your blissful retirement!
Joanna
To catch those sunrises, you get up so much earlier than I do. I woke up at 7:30 this morning, and went back to sleep until 8:20 That’s early enough for me in retirement!
Best wishes, Pete.
The dear little darlings insist on breakfast!
Some interesting (and to me, confusing) central road markings on the resurfaced sections.
Thank you for taking us along, with you, on your very scenic ride.
Beautiful to see!
When we go on our road trips, we can expect anything when it comes to the weather … but a snow shower is definitely not one of them. Hmm, ninety minutes of absolute beauty – I can’t wait to see the rest of your trip!
