After spending considerable time going through Friday’s captures, I was quite pleased to reach the end and retired with my book.
But a little thought crept into my brain: “What about that elk?”
.

Not that I planned to post the image, but if that picture was missing, quite a few more were as well, so either I had messed up again or they had not downloaded, in which case…
Happily, it was the latter, but this meant another long session in front of the PC.
.

This is not a colour I would ever have thought to paint my house, but I actually quite like the look which goes well in this setting. I thought the symmetrical curtains were a nice touch.
It is not uncommon to see houses painted this colour here.
.

A hint of a hill beyond the woods.
.

Sometimes the suggestion is more exciting!
.

Or not.
.

While brown is much more prevalent than usual because of the drought, I find that it blends quite well in a very pleasing way. My opinion.
.

What a lovely little grouping this was.
.

The colours bring to mind a box of Newberry Fruits which is something I haven’t thought of for many years. As a child they were a nice treat.
.

Sumac certainly does its part.
.

It is ubiquitous, yet strangely until I came to live here I had never seen sumac, though I did know of the existence of poison sumac which causes a severe allergic reaction. My aunt had suffered from an unfortunate encounter with that type, which is different.
.

This being a mild day, I was able to keep my window wound down to get pictures free from pesky windshield reflections which is another challenge to drive-by shooting!
Maybe I should stop using that expression?
.

As much as the bright colours, I enjoy the light filtering through still-green leaves.
.

Or almost any other sight we come upon.
Sorry, no, we’re not done yet…
Thank you, Carolyn, for the stunning vision of the Fall, including the sun filtering through the leaves, and the elegant house painted in an unusual colour.
Joanna
It’s lovely to see more of the changing colours captured on your excursions. We are driving down to Suffolk tomorrow to meet friends, so hope to see some on the way.
Best wishes, Pete.
That house looks as though it is floating in mid-air!
Yes. I thought so too.
You live inside a painting! Such a beautiful place! In India, there is no autumn. I sometimes wish for it though I know I shouldn’t. 😊
I just love your Autumn colours! The trees look so healthy and lively (even though they’ll soon lose their leaves). Ha 😁, I always laugh when I read your ‘drive-by shooting’ phrase … a completely innocent comment that might be misinterpreted!
