While I have no gardening skills, I appreciate and admire flowers and if I can’t grow them, I can photograph them. At Yaddo they were mostly roses, with just a few others…
The stairway and walkways were dotted with pots of decorative grasses.
I love how they catch the light.
The trellis had seen better days and the roses were unrestrained, reaching out to tear the flesh of careless wanderers.
Noting the thorns, we exercised caution!
The vibrant hue of these roses was hard to capture.
Phlox.
There were many kinds of rose and I can’t identify them, so I’ll just post the pictures.
Just a few of the very many lovely flowers in the Yaddo Rose garden. I wish I could have captured their scent.

Thank you so much, Carolyn, for presenting the beautiful and intoxicating scented roses, my favourite flower! I love everything about this garden, which resonates with me because I planted old-fashioned, scented roses in my organic garden. I could bet bottom dollar that you felt rejuvenated after this visit, as nature is the greatest healer.

I’d be tempted to take some pruners on the next visit!
There is something that greatly appeals to me in the way that the roses are not tethered or manicured, but left to look like wild roses should look.
Best wishes, Pete.
Lovely flower pictures, especially the roses! 😍
Thank you for sharing. 🌹

Yaddo Gardens looks like a great place to stroll if you want to see beautiful flowers – especially roses. While I was looking at your photos, I wondered if the roses smelled nice. Sometimes roses are beautiful but are almost scentless. I’m glad to read that you mention at the end that they were fragrant.
