ET?

Why is it that seemingly endless tasks present themselves when one feels least able to tackle them?

In truth, I admit that a couple of said tasks were noticed yesterday and left unattended.

Proof you should not put things off!

.

For many years, when I was younger, I suffered with chronic insomnia. Luckily now it is only episodic and it doesn’t matter when you are retired, so I don’t fret as I did in the days when I rose in the small hours to drag myself through another shift at the airport.

The more frantic I was for sleep, the less likely I was to be rewarded.

It was an overly busy mind that kept me awake then. Nowadays, sleepless nights are unpredictable. They just happen sometimes and everyone loses sleep from time to time.

But when I’m tired, I cope less well:

*“Oh, not another cat vomit!”

.

Out driving a few days ago we traversed a shady lane that was decorated with crown vetch and wild daisies.

.

As well as masses of lilies.

They grow abundantly here.

.

Even on our hill.

We have vetch too, but ours is:

Bird vetch.

Apparently.

.

We also have bird’s foot trefoil.

Why bother planting seeds when pretty flowers grow everywhere of their own accord?

.

The token milkweed deserves a mention.

It was determined to flower despite being ravaged repeatedly.

Evidence all those white bits.

.

This is how it ought to look.

Photo from 2020.

Remember we thought that was a bad year?

.

Scrolling through pictures I came upon a couple of better ones of the Fall Webworm Moth caterpillars.

.

Where were they yesterday when I was searching for them?

.

Then I remembered I’d meant to post this sweet osprey baby which we saw last week.

Didn’t ET have a face like that?

.

“You want picture of my baby, next time you bring me fish!”

.

*Anyone not a cat owner may not be aware that cats vomit frequently, almost always in inconvenient places.

  1. At the moment here, it is still 31C at 6:15pm. I have countless tasks I should be doing, but all I can manage is to be cooking dinner in an air fryer. I have zero regrets about not doing anything else other than sitting in front of spinning fans and drinking red wine.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Quite rightly too, Carolyn, as one should always bring a present when visiting. And the baby is cute! I am not so sure about the caterpillars, but the flowers are beautiful!

  3. Yes! The osprey baby does look like ET!
Yes, I just finished cleaning up vomit, from one of my darling cats.
Always happy though, when a hairball is present! 😊

  4. Oh, I’m jealous of your lilies growing so wild and beautiful! Here I have to try my best to make them grow in a pot. Haha 😁, I had a good laugh at your osprey baby with the ET face – they are definitely family!
