On such a fine morning, an outing was in order as it had been a while since we went on the road.
Would fresh Spring air improve my mood?

The world awakens…

.
Although I enjoy having four seasons, I am always regretful when they change and have to remind myself that each stage of the year holds something good, as well as others less good…

.

Is having to tread carefully on icy pathways something one really misses, for example?
Dark mornings and early nightfall?
.
These very early stages of Spring, before the trees fill out may be my favourite part of the coming season.

.

Turning off route 313 onto Sandgate Road, we followed the Green River.
It’s funny how names follow you around.
Leaving Washington State where I lived near the Green River, I found myself living in Washington County, not far from another river of the same appellation.
.
This Green River has a slightly green tint from snow melt.
The river in Washington was infamous. A serial murderer out there was known as the Green River Killer.
From the early ’80’s through the late ’90’s, Gary Ridgway killed at least 48 women. He was arrested in 2001 and plead guilty.

.

My last residence in Washington was in a town called Auburn.
After moving to Cambridge I learned that the reason crows here are nervous is likely because of an annual cull which takes place in Auburn, New York.

While I couldn’t contemplate killing birds, you can appreciate that such a vast number of these large birds could be considered a problem.
Auburn is a little far to drive, but I would love to see them.

“Whaddaya think? Should we trust her?”
In the years since we’ve been here our crow population appears to have become less skittish.
Perhaps the younger generation accepts that we represent no threat. I would like to think so.
Crows amuse me and I’ve always admired them.
.
Little old Panther, I am quite convinced, had been a crow in a previous life.
He strutted about like one and had the same attitude, just one of the reasons I loved him so much.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the interesting photographic update and feeding the birds!

I’m confused about the Crows. A ‘Murder’ of crows is the name for a large number or group of crows. ‘The phrase “a murder of crows” is a collective noun used to describe a group of crows, and its origins are rooted in folklore and the association of crows with death and scavenging.’ Are you sure that the crows are killed? The blue skies look lovely.
Best wishes, Pete.
Some people kill them, reportedly though from the video there obviously most try to live with the crows.
It’s also a really bad movie about a guy who takes credit for his dead friend’s book. Much like a Perry Mason episode with the unlikely title of ‘The Wayward Wife” that kicks the movie’s butt in less time with better twists.
