Local weather has settled into a pattern which brings intermittent snow and vast ranges of temperature.

In the six years we’ve lived here, we have somehow never needed to go out during a snow storm.
On Thursday we did.
The roads were fine and I enjoyed the different views.

While we have not had a lot of snow so far, we have had small amounts frequently, such that despite warm daytime temperatures, it tends not to melt completely away.

The big white horse Buddy has not returned.
Two other horses now occupy his enclosure.

They already seem to recognise the car that always slows down to admire them.
“You got apple?”

Before long, that day had turned brilliant but in late afternoon the sky darkened again.

Next morning there had been another dusting of snow.
The tremendous and frequent fluctuations of temperature have made rebuilding a challenge, with periodic collapses needing to be repaired.
Next week it’s likely to wash away again.

On seriously cold mornings I try to remember to check the garage windows.

Frost patterns are always interesting.
.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
.
But isn’t winter beautiful?
It must be really cold for such frost patterns to appear on the windows !
It has been down to -23C but this morning at -9C it actually felt colder because of strong wind.
Jack Frost images on your garage window are my cup of tea, as are the clouds in your photos, Carolyn, but winter is not!

Much colder than it has been here, and you are lucky to have such clear country roads. If we had that much snow I would be very reluctant to drive anywhere. Sunshine and 6C here today! (43F)

Hmm, this looks like a proper snowstorm to me! I don’t know if I’ll be so brave to drive when it’s snowing – but I reckon you’re probably used to it. The ice patterns on the window, snowy landscape and now also your ice sculptures make me remember why I love your Winter posts so much!
