.

No wonder I’m tired!

.

Here I thought I was only turning 77.

Soon, but not tomorrow.

The above popped up on my computer this morning, though where the info comes from, I’ve no idea.

.

Two sides of a favourite tree. Same day, different light.

.

Recently, we passed by another.

We came upon it suddenly and for once I was able to persuade the driver to turn around and go back…

.

This magnificent oak can only be truly appreciated in its naked state.

What it lacks in stature, it makes up for in shape, the extent of its branches greater than its own height.

.

We also came upon this one too quickly and I nearly missed it.

Bright early light caught the branches and the remaining leaves, a pretty picture against the blue sky.

At least to me.

.

As we drive, I twist my head this way and that, all too often missing what could have been a nice shot.

We need a car with a turret.

.

And a driver who obeys commands:

“STOP!”

“BACK UP!”

.

So what if there’s a car behind, or if it’s a blind rise etc?

The man obviously didn’t attend the Carolyn Smith school of driving.

.

No, I wasn’t that bad a driver.

At least I didn’t think so until one afternoon I was asked to collect one of our Concorde captains from an airfield on Long Island and drive him back to his hotel.

The term white knuckles comes to mind, as we sped along.

.

Another such skipper who was a friend told the funny story of being stopped for speeding on a motorway:

“I suppose you’re a Concorde pilot?”

When he said yes, actually he was, it didn’t get him off the hook!

.

A throbbing knee demands I remove it from under my desk and spend the afternoon with my leg up.

It is sufficiently troublesome that I will obey.

  1. If you’re 120 years old, you have to be the sharpest, warmest, most animal-loving, most entertaining (not to forget frequent) car passenger/photographer blogger on the planet! Keep it up, old lady! (From your fan who has you beat by a few years and looks forward to every posting.)

  2. Sometimes it’s good to take orders!
And I hope tomorrow is a wonderful day full of clouds and trees and cats. And memories that you share with us – your loyal and appreciative audience!

  3. Oh my, 120 is a high number (suddenly your almost 77 sound so young) … is this perhaps a secret prediction? Love the oak tree – I wonder how old it is (perhaps older than 120 years)?
