Demands

.

The birds were kept waiting for their morning nuts today and by the time I went out, the tree stump was decorated.

The message seemed reproachful.

.

“Where’s our nuts?”

.

Having the chance in recent years to observe Nature, I almost wish I could go back in time and become a fabric designer as there is so much inspiration to be found.

.

Nature provides amusement, too.

New Year’s Day saw a crow and squirrel competing for peanuts.

.

.

It surprised me to see this crow so wary of a squirrel.

.

As it reached out for a nut, the squirrel turned toward it and the crow flapped off in a panic, though it soon returned to sit on the path, reconsidering…

.

.

“Hmm.”

“How should I approach this?”

.

“Boldly!”
“Or not!”

.

The squirrel saw me in the window and sent me a mind message:

“You watching this stoopid bird?

.

Maybe the crow intercepted the message because it launched into the air and tried an overhead approach.

.

“Yo!”

“Alright! You can have some nuts!”

.

By then, there were none left, so I had to take out another cup full but it was blue jays who benefited from that offering.

This morning it was starlings.

.

“Cold weather, missus. Keep ’em coming!”

.

Little Man finds it all most interesting.

“They’re going away. Quick feed them!”

So many demands.
