This amazing phenomenon was apparently not widespread. The mist that created it seemed to have been localized, but our scenic route to Greenwich took us through the centre where the effect was magical.

It was quite the most extraordinary sight I have ever seen.
There are pictures of Yellowstone Park in Winter that suggest the same sort of scene, but I never expected to witness it myself, which made it all the more wonderful.

If ever I wanted to stop time!

I wanted to capture every aspect.
.
People seemed unaware of it.
No one was about that morning.
.
.
Snow being already on the ground was no doubt a contributing factor.
.
But the roads has been cleared, so driving was not a problem.
.
A tunnel of frost.

Thank goodness for digital photography.
Never before have I taken so many images in such a short time!

It was so compelling!
.
Even my father who hated winter would have been impressed.
.
This frost turned single stalks and trees into works of art.

As we approached Greenwich, the sky brightened.
.
The mist would soon burn off.
.
But because it was so very cold, even sunlight would not soon melt the frost.
.
.
Greenwich had not been touched by this mist and the frost there was not nearly as thick, but on the way home I captured a few more images.
