Coming home from Clifton Park on Monday, it was by now daylight but the mist was still clinging.
You could call it atmospheric.
.
Whatever, it made colours pop.

.

Maybe low cloud, rather than mist.
.
To be rid of the car following us, Grant turned beside a railroad track!
This one appears to be in use.
Most have been abandoned.

.

Overnight the trees turned darker shades of red than I have ever seen….
.
Impressive against the mist/cloud.

.

Between Clifton Park and the Stillwater Bridge, there are numerous routes that make for variety.
At this hour much quieter than usual!
.

.

After crossing the river we turned past a barn where we encountered a few escapees.
This is not unusual. The barnyard animals are free-roaming which would make me nervous, but the owner doesn’t seem to worry.
.
Solitary trees in the grey.

.

Back in Greenwich.

.
Hard not to be impressed.

.

Grant went into Hannaford’s leaving me to gaze.
.
Wet bark, very effective.

.

Then we took a scenic route back to Cambridge.
.

.

Through some woods.

.
Where mist persisted.

.

One of the horses we call hello to.

.

.

Frustrating not to have better light and yet…
I rather liked it.
.
We came upon this pea-green pond.
Luckily, Grant has sharp eyes.
When he’s got his glasses on.

.

Common wails, at home:
“Where are my glasses?”

“I haven’t got my glasses!”
.
But he can’t drive without.
I would never have spotted that heron and had a hard time even when it was pointed out.

.

“What are you looking at?”

“Got apples?”
.
This view has often been posted, but never like this!

.

.
Almost home now, we paused to watch and listen.

.

To flocks of birds.

Starlings or red-wings.
We couldn’t be sure, but they made quite a racket.
A wonderful cacophony.
.
Then we were back at our green pond.
Not ours at all.
Just the pond that’s before our turn.

.
Delivered in my best Agent Cooper (Twin Peaks) voice – those tress are… amazing…
Thank you for sharing these lovely Fall pictures of trees.
The roads, that you travel on, look so peaceful, in these photos.
What a delight. So many colours, so many variations of leaf fall, so many shades of light and shadow!
The mist definitely brings out the Autumn colours in the trees more. You’re right, the trees impress me tremendously. And once again, I’m amazed at how the landscape looks so much different in different weather conditions. Lovely photos.
Very misty indeed, but the red leaves on the trees made the outing worthwhile.
Best wishes, Pete.
