Pictures

.

For the first time yesterday, I had to don a jacket when I went out to fill the feeders.

Later I discovered the temperature had been not all that far above freezing, though it has moderated slightly since.

.

It has been several days since we last saw a groundhog.

They are such a delight all through the summer months and we miss seeing them with their carrots.

.

Chipmunks hibernate too but they are still very active, packing in every nut or seed they find!

.

Now that night comes sooner, we have been noticing nocturnal visitors.

We like to think they may be descendants of Mrs Plod the deaf/blind possum we loved so much, a few years ago.

There were actually three this night, but by the time I got my phone, the other one had moved on. It’s nice to know they are around.

.

Some house finches posed for me recently.

We always see them together.

Such a cute couple.

.

A storm sky and intermittent rays of sun set the colours off nicely at lunchtime.

So I had to get a new set of snaps.

.

.

What’s not to love about a stormy sky?

Especially in the Fall.

Pleasing pictures have always been my greatest weakness, that which I have been most likely to indulge myself with.

People might call my taste eclectic and my walls are festooned with a strange combination of wildly different paintings and photos and fabrics.

.

My last home being so large, purely for the purpose of fostering cats, I had wall space for everything I ever loved and a few more besides.

But oh, when it came to moving again!

The pictures alone comprised 13 boxes.

With each of many moves, I always despaired of re-hanging at the other end, but 13 boxes?

.

What I found though, was that my pictures would tell me where they wanted to go.

Without a conscious thought, I’d collect hammer and nail, select a picture and up it went. After that the rest all fell in an appropriate place.

Of course, it helps when you only have yourself to please.

Cats only care about their next meal.

.

The dark sky persuaded us to go out for a drive, which had its frustrations.

Hopefully there will be enough to illustrate that very short story tomorrow.

  1. Ha, I’m sure if the chipmunks could carry a shopping bag, they would have stuffed it full of nuts! I love the sun spots on the autumn coloured trees. And you’re right, a stormy sky definitely makes beautiful photos. Wow, 13 boxes full of pictures … well, I can’t really judge – that sound like our book collection. Beautiful photos – on a day like this, you probably can’t take enough photos.

    1. Yes, last spring we had one coming by for a while and had to be careful to put the suet feeders away at night. We don’t mind offering snacks but with farms around, we would get thr poor thing shot.

  2. I think the Possums are cute. I read once that people in the US shoot them. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to kill a harmless little creature like a Possum.
    Best wishes, Pete.
