On Sunday our clocks go forward an hour so we will have a temporary reprieve from the feline wake-up call that comes with first light.
It is always so satisfying, when I am obliged to rise early, to throw lights on and yell:
“Good morning, darlings!”

What with fog and heavy overnight rain, it was a decidedly damp morning today.
.
But the dear little darlings couldn’t wait to go rushing out. Willow found interesting messages in a hedge.
Nibbs didn’t come for breakfast today, so perhaps he left a note.
.
“Prior commitment, sorry!”
.
Noticing that Willow had ventured into the driveway, I called out to remind her not to go too far.
She couldn’t possibly understand?
She came tearing back across the lawn and shot in the door, barreling past Lily who hadn’t quite decided where she wanted to go, if at all.
.
Lily has commitment issues.
She always considers every move, very carefully.
One paw remains up, prepared to move in any direction.
.
“Two steps this way…”
.
Pause…
.
“Hmmm.”
“Let’s see…”
.
“Perhaps over there would be better…”
.
“Maybe I should turn back…”
.
“Then again…”
.
“Oh hell, decisions, decisions…”
.
In one fluid motion, the right foot went down as the left came up..
.
Meanwhile:
“Ding dong dell, Dee Dee’s in the well.”
.
While that was happening, Lily finally made up her mind to go investigating.

“Wow, wait, what did I just smell back there?”
.
A message apparently said:
“Proceed to fir tree. Do not stop.”
.
Lily went to see if the catnip plant has come alive yet.
The one that Toby found last fall.
.
Tinkerbelle was out and about as well.
.
Also headed to check out the bush mail.
.
As I watched all this, Grant came by and I observed to him that we ought to get on top of the weeds which appear to have arrived with a load of dirt we acquired last Fall.
This prompted an outing to Home Depot in Bennington.

We managed to get home just in time for Lily’s lunch.

Perhaps if you provided some small pots of paint they could do some abstract nose paintings for you?

Haha, I love Lily’s foot in the air photos … a man (human) would now have said to his woman: “Typical – this way, that way – oh, just make up your mind that we can go home”!
