Yesterday brought us two more inches of snow which moulded itself neatly over every surface.
This year’s snow so far has not what we are accustomed to. It is lighter, more powdery.
When temperatures rise next week, bringing rain, it won’t be so pretty.
.
Days are stretching out again.
To catch the dawn I must rise earlier, not easy these bitterly cold mornings.
2F/-17C at 7am. Still not as cold as it could be!

.

After the previous day of snow, Wednesday was stunning, the trees beautifully decorated but not laden down as so often happens.

I was searching for groundhog holes.
.
Somewhere, under all of this…

Following Scooter’s tracks, I found the entrance and tipped a few nuts and carrots into it, hoping she will find them.
Since it turned so cold, we’ve not seen our little friend.
The food disappears but there are many small creatures that may take our offering.

.

Puffs of wind dislodged the decorations.

Moving on, I went to check out the garage windows..
.
…which were nicely frosted…

.

How I hated this stuff, years ago, when I had to scrape it off my car windshield.
Those winters were long and cold.
And dark.
.
In the beginning, I had an afternoon shift which meant I got off duty at 9 or 10, sometimes later.
Traipsing to the parking lot after a tedious day of weather delays, not a great deal of fun, especially if your car had been plowed in!
Later, I migrated to a morning shift and in those days, rising early meant before 4 am.
Cleaning off my car at that hour at least woke me up.
It wasn’t until I went to the West Coast that I had the luxury of a garage.

.

In retirement, the days of the week became insignificant, although certain things happen on particular days.
“Garbage-day”, Wednesday. Cleaning-lady comes on a Saturday.
This week, garbage moved to Tuesday and cleaning-lady came on Wednesday.
.
Confusion!
We escaped briefly, the whine of the vacuum cleaner.

.

And drove through snowy Cambridge.

.
One day we’ll stop to get a decent picture of the little covered bridge.

.

Meanwhile, I groused about the Christmas decorations still being up!
Maybe they are supposed to tide us over till Easter?
.
An alternate view of “hill house.”

.

The tamaracks still have a rusty tinge.
.
Buddy and his pal watched us.

.

And the girls were waiting patiently for lunch.

It is 8pm on Sunday here, and +12C 0r almost +54F. The unseasonal warmth is because of the very low cloud cover brought by the arriving storm. At least we don’t have to have the heating on very high. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
It looks magical <3
Practically the whole of the UK is experiencing very high winds and rain tonight and into Monday so most transport links have shut down and everyone’s hoping to avoid any damage.
Stay safe!
Oh my gosh, it’s cold!! I would just like to stay inside the house (with the cats) … but then I will miss all the beauty you capture so beautifully with your camera!
