Parts of Greenwich are quite nice but how very much nicer it could be.
The yellow signs are just the latest eyesore.
.
There are lots of really lovely trees

despite a tangle of power lines everywhere.
Many houses are decorated for Halloween. I’m not a fan of decorations but I realise that I am just an old grump.

.

In-your-face election signs are out and those are hideous enough, but what really gets my hackles up are the “warring” messages of opposing parties that try to outdo each other with their stupid catchphrases.
It seems there is no escape from the hostility and ugliness.
.
The linden trees only just turning.

Same steep slope, different direction.

Trips to the grocery store are a positive delight these days.
The daily update of chez nous.

.

When we swing around, making a 180 onto our road, it’s always interesting to see what’s been happening with the weather behind us!
.

.

Tuesday’s appointment was in the afternoon. Our preference is for mornings, but sometimes you get what you’re given.
Anyway, it’s good to see the world in afternoon light for a change.

Recent rain brought down a lot of leaves

even though it wasn’t a real storm.
.
No one home at the pigeon house.
It’s not their house, but they sit on the roof for a good natter. A convenient layover for travelling avians.
It was an interesting sky.

.

We were heading for Queensbury

Road workers have had a busy summer!
.
It was interesting to see such a difference in the foliage, a very short distance from home.

Here, most trees still have their leaves and many have only just begun to get Fall colours.
Unusual, since this is further north.

.

Going to Queensbury involves getting on the freeway.

.
The sky was full of drama.

As always, when we head this way!

.

Moreau State Park is where a 9-year-old girl was abducted recently. I simply can’t imagine how a parent deals with the stress.
And what of the child?
So many of these cases have a tragic outcome. This time, mercifully, the girl was found, alive.
.
The child had been taken while riding her bike, a “simple” kidnapping case, easily resolved when the abductor in person delivered the ransom note to the family’s mailbox.
Those are the only details I heard, but it seems to me a sign of desperation.
Also a message of warning to parents that no child is really safe these days.

On the way home, I managed finally to get a picture of the river in Greenwich.
As we shot by.
.
Scene much improved sans signs.

We followed this horse trailer all the way from Greenwich. The trailer had two almost flat tires and the driver seemed in a hurry, so I whispered good thoughts for his poor passengers as we turned off.

Beautiful autumn colors and photos. Thank you for sharing!
I love fall. Everything becomes very colorful and picturesque. Beautiful season 🍁🙋💗
Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful pictures of the sky and trees!
Just now, on the news there was information about the sycamore tree. The tree was cut into pieces of 2-3 m, and taken somewhere safe for keeping until it will be decided what can be use it for.
The part left in the ground will be made safe from animals and helped to re-grow.
I think, that hundreds of pictures taken of the tree might be sold generate funds for charity.

The proliferation of ‘street furniture’ in London made it look awful as I wandered around the streets of my home city before moving away in 2012. Luckily, it is still minimal in Beetley, and you can drive quite a distance before encountering signs that spoil the view.
Best wishes, Pete.
I much rather look at your beautiful trees than the man-made ‘decorations’. Surely you sometimes have to “ooh” and “aah” when you drive these beautiful roads? You’re right, child abductions must be an incredibly traumatic event. Which bring the question: How did humanity end up here?
Those yellow signs do seem to be a little bit over the top!
