The day began with benign clouds.

And a very fast trip to Greenwich.
.
How pretty are the verges now?

.

Sumac overhangs the road.

Corn to the horizon.
.
We were back so soon, the little darlings hadn’t noticed we’d gone.

.

As I settled down at my desk, there came another “Flood Watch”. I’m wondering if we will get one now each time it rains, but I suppose it’s that “abundance of caution” that must always be applied these days.
It did rain fairly hard briefly, which had a delightfully freshening effect on the oppressive atmosphere of recent days.
.
In the early evening the Racoon family came out to browse. Peanut too.

.

And her kids.

.
They were all perfectly fine

Then they all shot off in different directions, startled by something.

But they were soon back

“We like your clover, missus.”
.
There is such joy in young animals

.

Unaware yet of coming hardships

On my way back to my desk, I stopped at another window:

.

Ignoring all further distractions, I managed to focus for the next hour till suddenly:
“Wow. Look at that cloud!”
This was a totally new look.
So out I went. Again.
At such times I feel perhaps I’ve died and gone to heaven.
Because this is how it would look.

Warmly lit and safe.
Stephanotis-scented, soft and warm.
Tasting of nectar.

.

Feeling uplifted, I retired with my book. Blackie came to pin me down.

.
Dear Blackie.
She sticks like velcro.
So I ignored the voice which said:
“Go back outside.”
Till I could bear it no longer.

.
…and this is what I beheld:
.

How could one witness it and not be compelled to share such a gift?

The apricot-coloured cloud from only half an hour earlier had unraveled into the sky catching the rays of the setting Sun.
From the same provenance emerged a bank of grey.
.
Rolling irrevocably toward us.

But it was dark by then.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the out of this world photos of the sky!

I love looking at all of your adorable critters, and your beautiful skies……
Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Young raccoons, and that apricot sunset. Both joyous indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.
Colourful flowers on the way, foxes and racoons in your garden – wow, you’re lucky! And that cloud and amazing sky … definitely a heavenly look if you ask me!
