“If life sends you lemons, make lemonade.”
If it sends you smoke, make smoke signals?
Something like that, I suppose.
.
Back in the ’50’s London was frequently blanketed with smog.
Smoke and fog. I remember it well.
This was not like that.
Perhaps it’s that as I child I did not question what the phenomenon was.

.

At 1410 yesterday, the sky had become a colour I am hard put to describe, but it is interesting to note that at 1430 it was so dark, our solar lights activated:
.

It was not my plan to belabour the subject, but somehow it seems too significant to dismiss.
.
When increasing age makes you shaky,
Take out-of focus images?
This one is curious, though.
The two birds are almost ghost-like.
Please let it not be prophetic.

.

“Why’s it so dark?”

“Dunno but I’m off.”
“Yo, dopey, you comin?”
.
The thunderstorm that arrived was impressive, rattling the house and throwing down much needed rain.
It was over in time for my top-ups.
For which Mama was very grateful.

.

“What was that all about, then?”

.
“How should I know?”
“You’re the genius!”

.

“They are so badly behaved!”
“It’s the parents, you know.”
“My babes would never carry-on like that!”
“Maybe we’ll get to meet them soon?”
.
“If I can get a word in edge-ways?”
“I’d like to file a complaint!”
“My flock can hardly get a single seed!”
“Our babies need to eat too!”

.

“My sweet child.”

.
“Quick, get a drink before they come back!”

Poor baby took a nose dive.

.

“I may have to take my kids elsewhere!”
“Grackles are refined birds!”
.
Since I was awake, I thought I’d have a look at the outside situation at 0530 this morning.
Can’t say I was very impressed, but perhaps it was mist?

.

By 0650 things looked so much better.

.
But life was going on as normal…
Ghost came pounding down the driveway as if pursued by the devil.
“Early squirl gets the nuts, missus!”

.

When I went round the front, there he was by the porch steps. For a moment he seemed to consider trusting me.
But he decided to chase away the competition first.
.
He was off like a wisp of what else, smoke.

.

Little Zoomer is far too trusting.

Coming to feed right beside me.
.
Perhaps he can’t take in something the size of a human.

“Just keep that cat inside!”

.

Zoomer has a lot of escape-holes.

“Good for disappearing tricks!”

Lots of haze here In Glastonbury Ct. grandson in NYC keeps sending us pictures of the situation there
All reported widely on the news over here! Hope things improve soon.
The haze from those fires is worrying. Air quality must be so bad for humans and animals alike. As always, you are taking care of your little friends so well, Carolyn.
Best wishes, Pete.
It’s interesting to see how changeable the weather can be (fog, smoke, thunderstorms and sunshine), but the animals go about their normal business. Little Zoomer may be too trusting, but he’s also way too cute! I hope whatever the reason for the hazy view, it will return to normal soon.
