The camera often sees what we do not.

When I showed Grant the photo I posted yesterday of those three skunks he saw a mom with 2 babies rather than the two adults and baby that I had thought I was photographing and looking closer, I believe he is right. I mention it for the sake of accuracy.

Only when I snapped the above photo did I realise there was an insect sitting on the plant.

.

So I looked closer and now discover there were others.

(I saw one but Grant spotted another tiny black speck, second pod from right.)

.

Neoneides muticus, I am informed, eats plants and other insects.

The other insect/s in the top photo are too small to identify. Macro photography is a challenge I am really not up to which is a shame as there is so much going on microscopically.

.

Because I am finding it too great a challenge to get down to the field just now, on the way back from shopping, Grant took me there in the car, though the thistles are still unreachable through thick scrub and that is where we’d seen Monarch butterflies.

With the zoom I could just about capture the flowers but there was no chance for me to get the Monarch in my lens.

Here’s a Pearl Crescent instead:

Conveniently beside the porch where I could reach it easily.

.

Common poppy
Pot marigold aka Calendula

And two new flowers in Grant’s wild garden.

.

Here’s another mini-movie:

To finish up a mini-post.
