Sometimes the simplest things make the prettiest picture.
A single contrail, the slightest hint of a cloud in a clear morning sky.
.

And the Sun breaking the horizon.
.

Attempts to include an icicle in the photograph were unsuccessful.
They just don’t belong in the same picture.
Spring being certainly on approach, it is possible I misled you into believing there would be no more images of Winter and I hate to disappoint, but until the first buds burst, I needed something to offer…
.

Having noted the gloomy ten day outlook, we were determined to get maximum enjoyment out of blue skies while they lasted. After a snowy start, Sunday turned brilliant.
.

Catching sight of an early-rising groundhog persuaded us to go out in search of carrots and since we were going that way, Grant decided we should take the car for a bath as we are not able to wash it at home.
Appearances aren’t an issue, but salt is bad for the undercarriage even though it is coated.
So we set a course for Schuylerville…
.

On the way, I couldn’t resist another go at capturing these two trees as they looked so splendid on the snowy slope, against that sky.
.

And – in bud!
.

It seems to me that trees everywhere are more erect and looking very much more cheerful.
As they well might be, after standing around in the cold all Winter.
.

At the car wash we discovered that a fine Sunday afternoon is not a good time to get the car washed as everyone else has the same idea. However,we didn’t wait long. Then I thought we were going back to Greenwich for the carrots and a few other things, but we made a detour.
Detours are quite usual either for avoidance of slow-moving vehicles or those that would dare to follow us when we wish to dawdle and often we take side trips for sightseeing, so why would I question the driver?
.

When we turned onto Wright Road, however, I suspected that shopping had been forgotten!
.

Carrots could be obtained at the wee shop in Cambridge, so no problem.
.

Coming this way on such a day was much better than traipsing back through Greenwich.
.

We frequently drive up over this hill to see the view and it’s never the same twice.
.

We’d never seen it like this before!
.

“I’m ready for Spring!”
.

“Us too!”
Poor things. It’s a wonder they don’t get blown off that ridge.
.

Some cool grasses waved at us from beside the road.
Their colour and texture so pretty in the afternoon light.
Simple images, just asking to be noticed.
.

Now, as it happens, the 8 rainy days ahead are not predicted to commence until Tuesday, therefore we felt obliged, on Monday, to take one last appreciative look…
.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful photos of the slowly departing winter and the first sign of approaching spring. I love the deeply blue sky and the cloud or two, and wholly agree with you that simple pleasures such as trees with a few buds or sunrise are greatly appreciated! Mine pleasure was to see the full moon last night!

That’s a lot of snow to become water when it thaws out. Those deep blue skies are lovely, we don’t get such blue here until summer. I smiled at how you divert to avoid slow drivers ahead of you, but also because when cars are behind you and you want to drive slowly. Perhaps you are the problem? 😊😊
Best wishes, Pete.
Blue skies and white snow-covered fields – wow, what a lovely sight! And then put trees that are busy showing spring blossoms in between and you have a winning post here 🌞. I like how you go out to buy carrots but end up making a very scenic road trip (well, you did wash the car), so all in all I would say it was a very successful outing!
