When sightseeing or even when just returning from an appointment, we tend to vary our route, but not always and at least some portion of the journey is bound to be the same.
Where we live there is not a great deal of traffic on the roads which means that one is more likely to notice individual vehicles. That is to say annoying drivers.
.

One day last year as we drove through Greenwich, a car suddenly shot out of a side street in front of us and then proceeded to dawdle annoyingly. Grant definitely noticed!
Several hours later, when we returned, that same car pulled out of that same street in the same mindless way, going in the opposite direction, dawdling once again.
What were the chances?
.

It seemed very unlikely, but such extraordinary occurrences do happen. I mention it only because the same thing happened on our return from Point au Roche.
.

This time the car was identifiable because it bore the number 509, being registered to a company. It too was the cause of annoyance, braking unnecessarily and frequently, although we think it was a medical transport, so perhaps it was out of consideration for the passengers.
But once again – what were the chances of us driving behind that car in both directions?
What are the chances of such a thing happening twice?
.

Luckily, before long it turned off and most of the journey was challenge-free.
.

Seriously, who could complain?
Out in Washington State we were surrounded by stunning scenery, but to go and view it involved hours of driving on congested highways which ruined your enjoyment.
That’s why I chuckle when Grant mutters now about putt-putts!
.

On our final stretch we managed to get behind a horse transport but one accepts that they can’t tear along.
Farm vehicles do not cause grousing either because this is farm country!
.

Not long after, we were home in mostly leafless Cambridge, just as the Sun was sinking.
It had been a long but very enjoyable day of pretty scenery with a brief, humble picnic on a quiet and sunlit beach.
Simple but perfect pleasures.
.
I think it is actually quite normal to see the same ‘annoying’ cars in quiet, country areas. It happens to me a lot around Beetley, and as I don’t drive very fast, I suspect I might be one of the cars annoying others. 😊
Best wishes, Pete.
It’s interesting that you write about this, because exactly the same thing happened to me earlier this week. We live 7km outside town and on the way to go shopping, a car drove slowly in front of me (with a smoke haze coming from its exhaust). An hour later, I drove back to the farm and, lo and behold, almost at the exact same spot the same car drove in front of me again – in the same direction as me. It was plain weird!
