Periodically we stop at Riverfront Park in Greenwich. I’m not sure it should be called a park, being no bigger than a small garden, but it affords us a look at the Batten Kill above the weir.
.

Normally water rushes over it with an impressive roar. Now the flow is so reduced, fallen leaves, twigs and goose feathers were catching on the rim.
Sadly, we found that a gate had been installed preventing access to the overlook.
.

Probably just as well since it didn’t seem all that safe. I always moved very cautiously along it, but perhaps some other daft person managed to get into trouble as humans so often tend to when given half a chance.
.

The following day brought a change in the weather.
.

It looked promising.
.

And it dampened the foliage bringing the colour up several notches.
.

It did rain – a little bit.
.

Not nearly enough, but we’ll take what we can get.
.

Although the sky continued to scowl, sun rays broke through with dazzling effect.
.

Full marks for set design and lighting.
.

It’s almost as if the trees glow from within.
Determined to brighten gloomy days.
.
Thank you so much, Carolyn, for the wonderfully dramatic views of the angry sky with the birds flying away before the coming rain. I am glad that you are avoiding unsafe walks!

Wonderful reflections indeed, Carolyn. It has been completely dark here since 4:30pm, almost 30 minutes ago. Such a long night!
Best wishes, Pete.
Stupendous photos. The header, if turned on its side, displays a myriad of images, from a heavily muffled sherpa to several types of aliens, and a cuddly bear!
Hopefully the storm late week will bring you a soaking rain.
There are few things as beautiful as the reflection of trees in calm waters … and dark skies with vibrant autumn-coloured trees. Beautiful photos.
