Not to belabor a subject, but how could I not share such a sight?
.

A small flight of Canada geese flew past.
It is extraordinary the extent to which the sky can change in a few short minutes.
.

“Red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning”?
The old saying is unreliable, at least here and this turned into a fine day.
.

The following morning was quite different, but also fine.
.

That day provided an image of a bird and its horse.
Or was it a horse and its bird?
A common sight in some parts of the world but not so much here.
.

We’d headed off in a different direction.
.

By no means is it all hills and woods.
When the corn is up, none of this would be visible.
.

These colours made me think of a box of the fruit jellies I used to like.
Much better than chocolate! The only kind I like is hot cocoa.
.

Just a few miles from all those naked trees in Vermont, Fall seemed only just to be getting started in some places.
.

A matter no doubt of the type of tree and the aspect and altitude of the terrain.
.

Though I don’t recall another year quite as patchy.
.

A mixed-up Fall for a mixed-up year, I suppose.
.

Our visit to Hidden Valley had me almost convinced that the show was over.
.

For once I was delighted to be proven wrong.
.

It’s not an infrequent occurrence, but usually I am less pleased about it.
.

Since this day we’ve been out several more times and I haven’t run out of subjects yet…
.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the wonderful photos, especially a horse and a starling, two friends in a field. Every autumn image is precious, as winter is long and cold…
Joanna
Amazing skies indeed, and more of those lovely leaves too.
Best wishes, Pete.
Your comment about fruit jellies made me think, “New Berry Fruits”. Yummy!
Such beautiful pictures!
Well I hope that you never run out of subjects
Wow, your morning sky photos are stunning! Fruit jellies? Oh, those are my favourite sweets (and now you’ve made me crave them and there isn’t even one single packet in the house 🙈). It’s great to still see such vibrant autumn colours – and so beautiful too.
