It’s another splendid day and we are off to discover new horizons…

Just time for a quick post before we set off.

This tree caught my eye yesterday.
It’s delicate form stood out against the clear sky as it would not against clouds.

Dirt roads are always worth exploring even if we end up having to turn back.

This one led up to a ridge with a view.

If I was creating fabrics, I’d use this as a pattern.

One of those darkness/light photos that appeal to me.

What an amazing crop corn is.
Until I came to live here, I’d never seen vast fields like these. I love them.

We’d taken a previously unexplored road but eventually we came to something familiar.

Which also offered a nice view.

Though coming down the hill we were slightly confused as so many of these farms look alike.
The field here was growing a different crop – soy, I think.

We found our way to Stump Church where we checked out the nearby pond which is not quite dried up but looking very murky.
.
A whole row of terrapins sat on a fallen branch, basking in the sunlight.
.
As muskrats swam by.
.
We’ve only seen them once before and not in this pond but funnily, we’d just been remembering them.
.
Along the road we came upon a dog that had taken itself for a walk. It looked keen to meet us and dogs sometimes get themselves lost. We’ve helped a few and Grant was halfway out of the car when we heard someone call out, presumably the owner, since the dog trotted off happily.
Shame really. I’d been craving a dog-fix!

And then, we were home.

In your picture of the tree that caught your eye, I was intrigued by the large poly tunnels/growing sheds/storage sheds. What are they?
I think it’s just the equivalent of a greenhouse.
Yes, I’m crazy about dirt roads (and as you point out here, sometimes there is the luck of beautiful views). Love the photos of the murky pond – it’s amazing that you could see so much wildlife here. And a dog fix – I can do with that every day!
