An early start

0506/29th August 2025

There weren’t many opportunities for photographs on the way to Albany this morning on account of it being pitch dark.

.

In truth, Albany looks much nicer this way!

Approaching the city we met a few vehicles, but otherwise we had the road to ourselves when we set out just before 5 for a 6 am check-in time. If I have a choice I prefer early, but I’ve never had an appointment quite that early! It reminded me of the days when I rose in the small hours for my shift at the airport. Anyway, when having medical procedures, it’s always best to be the first patient of the day and avoid delays that inevitably develop as the day progresses.

As far as I can gather, my small surgery did not start a delay ball rolling. So to speak.

.

A troublesome gland was removed from my neck and by 1030 we were on our way home.

.

Though I wasn’t feeling terribly bright, I managed one or two pictures.

.

“80% chance of rain”, the forecast had said and there were a few brief sprinkles, but despite more of those threatening clouds, as of 1430 nothing more has been forthcoming.

.

Though the day’s not done. It could still happen.

.

One thing was very noticeable today.

.

A rapid onset of Fall!

.

Even in my dopey condition, I appreciated the moody sky.

.

Not everyone’s idea of a spectacle, perhaps, but to me watching the changing sky far surpasses many forms of entertainment.

.

We had to stop at Hannaford’s where we parked beneath the first red leaves.

.

Beside a sweet dog.

And that made my day.

  1. Getting early is my habit for life, and I agree that any medical procedure is better done first thing in the morning. I do hope that is the end of any more procedures, and you feel well soon. The night views are lovely, as was the sweet dog. I am late reading your post, Carolyn, because we had a storm here and a power cut.

  2. I almost want to say I’m not surprised that your Autumn has already begun to show its colours, because our Spring wildflowers are already looking stunning (and my hay fever officially kicked in this morning … bang on time 🤧). Yes, a dog with such a cute little face would definitely make my day too! Hope you’re doing well after your procedure.
