At 2220 last night I caught sight of the rising Moon.
The Moon setting on my camera captured the colour quite accurately.
This morning’s Sun was a similar hue before it disappeared behind rain clouds.
.
In a rare assertive moment, Lily laid claim to Little Man’s perch on top of a kitchen cupboard, from whence to observe progress, or lack thereof, on the jigsaw puzzle.

.
In frustration, we moved the table closer to a window. My contribution today was to sort the remaining pieces into similar shapes and colours which helped me to place two of them, but Grant has done the majority of the work.
.

The puzzle had reached a stage where all the outstanding pieces were dark blue, yet there was one glaring gap calling for a pale yellow insert.
Quite obviously, it was missing. We both scrutinised the floor which I also vacuum daily. It was nowhere to be found and the cats have not been interested, so it was a mystery where the piece had got to.
.
Perhaps it had been missing all along.
But suddenly this morning, Grant found it on the floor exactly where we had looked.
Perhaps now he will also find my missing crochet hook. I laid it on my desk the other day, opened a drawer to get out another ball of wool – and when I went to resume work, it was gone, vanished.
Periodically I remember it and telling myself that it is obviously here, have another rummage, but the more I look, the more it simply isn’t! Doesn’t matter in the least. It is just perplexing!
.
Something else had to be relocated recently.
A tree stump marks the location of the driveway for the snow plough in winter and I have been putting nuts on it for birds, but the other day the fox kits reappeared and now that they have grown so confident…there they were helping themselves, which in full view of the road is not ideal.
Better that the farmer doesn’t see them.
.
So I began placing my offerings somewhere more discreet, which the foxes found promptly.
.
Sophia also made another move recently.
She began spending part of her day on my bed.

.

And now she also spends part of the night there, which makes me very happy considering she was afraid of me for such a very long time.
.
In the scheme of things it may be insignificant, but to see this little cat enjoy her final days means a lot to us.

Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful and moving update about the events in your fascinating world. I love the care you take of all the creatures lucky to be close to your home and you. I hope that Sophia enjoys your bed and company for some time yet. As usual, your photos are perfect!

If Sophia the cat is coming to your bed for comfort, that seems to be a sign of her realising her old age. I am glad you moved the fox food, I wouldn’t want those little foxes to be killed by a wary farmer.
Best wishes, Pete.
You are making good progress with the puzzle – it’s those last few pieces that are always the most challenging (if they aren’t missing). Love the foxes and dear Sophia – she looks so content.
