17th May2025

.

Today’s outing will be back to Albany for another attempt at the test that had to be abandoned when fentanyl failed to restrain survival instincts which remained alert even though my mind was switched off.

No messing about this time.

.

In fact, it is so long since I sought answers to digestive issues, they have resolved, returned and disappeared again. After the abortive test, I was inclined to forget the whole thing, but when the re-scheduled date came through I decided to go through with it, then forevermore abandon such pursuits.

Of course, I’ve said that before.

.

Don’t get excited, fair weather has not returned.

Earlier in the month we had some pretty skies that I never got around to posting, so what better time?

.

May 7th graced us with one of those divine evenings.

.

There are so many details in each moment.

Digital allows you to capture them all to savour again at leisure, while still enjoying the totality of the event.

.

It is such a gift, digital photography.

.

While the images may seem similar, they are not the same and those tiny differences matter!

At least to me they do.

Details are important!

.

The trees had not quite filled out then.

The evening of May 7th had me running back and forth to the window because it was so lovely.

.

A light show in the meadow down the hill caught my eye, as always.

.

The Sun sank behind a cloud, though the distant hill was still brightly lit.

Thinking that was it, I came in to sit at my desk

.

But ten minutes later the lights went up again.

So, up I got.

.

I love those very subtle changes in fading light.

.

The Sun had dipped beneath our hill, yet its light still penetrated through a gap, sending a last defiant ray to the woods across the valley.

.

At 7:52, I thought it was all over.

.

But I noticed a pretty skunk on the patio.

.

Which caused me to look outside again.

.

Then – the day was done.

  1. The wheelbarrow is attracting a variety of hungry visitors. Keep going, and you may get 12 different animals and birds for a ‘Wheelbarrow Calendar’.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful changes of the sky! The green colour of the thick, lush lawn is a joy to see, as are the views of the landscapes. Your guest at the weelbarrow is just the first to arrive shortly. Good luck with your test.

  3. I had a lovely wispy cloud a couple of days ago that was travelling 3 times as fast as all the others, creating quite a stir. Unfortunately, it did not show in any of the numerous photos I took. I wonder if it was all in the mind?!!!!

  4. All the best with the medical visits and outcomes.
    Lovely captures of changing light.
And yes – skunks are beautiful and digital photography remains a miracle.
