Only half…

.

“You have got to be kidding me!” exclaimed the driver as a little red Chevy pulled out in front of us.

The very same car had done the very same thing some two hours earlier.

“Putt! Putt..putt…putt…putt…!”

.

Grant has a peeve about slow drivers who hog the road and funnily enough, this is not the first time we’ve had the same car pull in front of us twice in the same day, but what are the chances of such an occurrence? Grant thinks it’s the doing of gremlins.

This putt-putt had taken a leaf from his book, though. While the man hates slow drivers in front, he hates being followed almost as much, because he likes having the option to slow down if we see something worth a photo.

.

So, whenever a car comes along behind, Grant pulls over to let it pass.

Seeing this morning’s putt-putt appear again, we slowed down, but before we’d gone very far it pulled over to let us pass. Such people are mostly oblivious of all other traffic, so this was highly unusual.

.

But then, what is usual nowadays?

Best thing is to be prepared for everything and accept whatever comes.

Easy to say, isn’t it?

.

This morning’s outing was for an eye appointment. I’ve been aware of deterioration recently, so I suppose I hoped a fine-tuning of my prescription might bring me back in focus.

For now, I have to settle for a new pair of lenses to replace the old ones that became scratched, which is mysterious considering they are only ever on my face or in their case.

.

Apart from that, the news was not especially good. Macular degeneration diagnosed last year has progressed significantly, which explains what I’ve been experiencing at least.

The doctor, who I have great faith in, made a few suggestions that may help to arrest the deterioration, beyond which I can only hope for the best.

.

It serves to remind one that vision should not be taken for granted and that one should properly appreciate the beauty of the world around us…

.

A bright morning, when bad weather was forecast.

.

In-your-face green after a long winter.

.

Horses in a field.

.

An empty road!

.

A sudden break in the gathering clouds.

.

The absence of a putt-putt?

Here, we were behind it on the way out and that time, we were obliged to follow it halfway to Greenwich.

But only half way.

You see – gratitude should be attributed where it is due!

  1. Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful, green world around your village! I don’t know how you can like winter when during the spring, summer, and autumn you live in paradise. It is good that your doctor has some suggestions about your eyes, as seeing the beauty of nature will heal anything you find annoying in life.

  2. My wife gets very angry and frustrated with slow or erratic drivers when she is driving, but I am rarely concerned. It’s not as if we are usually going anywhere that we need to be at a certain time. Not caring about such small things is a good way of reducing stress in life, I feel.
    Best wishes, Pete.
