Yesterday I wrote that dawn had not been spectacular for some time.

So the Universe provided this.

Our extended cold spell is to be briefly punctuated by a strangely warm Saturday, topping out at 40F/4C.
Comparatively warm.
.
The question is, how long will the rain hold off?
And what will the result be?
When I began this wacky creation, I had no expectations, no goal in mind and I’ve done it simply for fun.
Whatever form it takes is totally fine.

This was where I’d got to on January 16th…
.
Like building a house of cards, one false move can bring the lot down.
Though the collapse was not due to a badly placed block.
At least not immediately.
You might say this structure was doomed.
But it was brought down by domino effect…
.
It was the yellow one which looked fairly stable that caused the trouble and it wasn’t that the top slid off.
Somehow it broke in the middle as if it had been pushed, though I can’t see how or by what.
.
The top of the purple structure fell too.
Whatever caused the collapse, I found it yesterday morning.
.
Before attaching the overnight additions, I set about making repairs using the broken bits.
With fingers becoming increasingly frozen, there’s no time to make it fancy!

The yellow tower lost a few layers in the middle.
With no way to re-attach them, I stuck them on the ground to begin a separate column.
Weather permitting.

WordPress media is fighting me today and I am about to evacuate my room as it is cleaning day.
So here’s the image from this morning, before the thaw.
The One who created the universe provided it!!!

I reckon the squirrels organised a games night and damaged your sculptures by dashing around with gay abandon! (Or it got warmer!)
Hmm, I’m not so sure if 4C can be described as “strangely warm” 🤔 … to me it sounds pretty cold! I love your colourful ice structures – this Winter you really revealed a fascinating art to us.
