Not normal

18th December 2024

.

For once I have declined the offer of a drive, and in favour of remaining home to deal with laundry.

What is the world coming to?

It’s not just the laundry. It’s a computer issue that needs sorting. Not that I have high hopes.

.

Already irritated over computer problems, my mood was not improved yesterday by a session at the dentist. It was just the quick fix of a broken tooth but I found myself having a strange communication breakdown with the dentist who did not conceal her annoyance.

Which reconfirms the need to find a different practice.

Afterwards, I was driven off…

.

White Creek.

.

We followed the creek for some distance, heading vaguely east through thin woods growing out of rocky terrain.

Despite warm temperatures, ice formations remained.

.

It wasn’t possible to stop for a decent picture.

.

Leaving the woods we came upon a grove of box-elder.

.

Box-elder and willow. Muted winter colours.

.

It was a day for enjoying trees.

.

And horses. These two shared a field…

.

Quaker Hill Road.

.

We hoped to see the handsome highland bull but he was surrounded by his herd!

.

They look modest from afar, but some of these hills are quite steep.

.

Single poplars stand out against the rest like a blanched skeleton.

.

I love the outlines of pines.

They each seem to have their own character.

.

A tree and silhouettes day…

.

Now I must return to my Word problem.

Word documents suddenly became unavailable through Preview which normally doesn’t matter…

These are not normal times, however!

  1. Given the prices that dentists charge, I find their patronising and superior attitudes to be unacceptable in the extreme. (NHS dentists are almost extinct here now, so we pay privately) I agree that you should change dentists and vote with both your feet and your wallet.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Thank you, Carolyn, for the post dedicated to trees and horses. I will not mention the dentists because I don’t ever see one preferring keeping my teeth perfect by raising my mouth with salty water after every meal as my grandmother did, and never been to a dentist. She died with all her teeth. I love all your photos of trees with personalities!

  3. I’m always wary of anyone who has filled my mouth with 7 sharp metal objects, 5 cotton wool balls, 2 bits of plastic, and a large suction pump and is telling me that I am oversensitive!

  4. You still have computer issues?
Interesting comment from @Gabychops regarding her grandmother’s salt ritual…I might give this a go as each time I visit a dentist, I need a small mortgage – they’re also vultures in Australia.
