Refreshment

0802/14th December 2024

.

Saturday dawned even more crisp than the day before, which is hard to believe today, given a current 57F/14C.

.

The frost looked especially pretty on top of a light dusting of snow, so I gladly accepted a drive to Greenwich.

.

We hadn’t got far before I yelled STOP!

.

I couldn’t get the camera to focus on those grasses, but the bushes behind were pretty all lit up.

.

Buddy’s field was stark.

.

As often as we pass this way, the scene is always just a bit different.

Does it look frigid?

.

Yurts don’t only exist in Mongolia.

.

.

As we came upon the Batten Kill I noticed the trees, so we went to take a closer look.

.

They were not coated with frost but with ice.

Wind had blown spray from the weir onto the trees where it froze.

.

.

This called for further investigation.

.

.

From Facebook memories I see that four years ago on this day we were buried under 36 inches of snow.

.

One wonders if we shall ever again see that amount. Yet surely the climate can’t have changed so radically, so soon?

.

Somewhere else today, I saw that the “mysterious drones” are now being seen in the Capital Region which is around Albany.

It is entirely possible that aliens from another planet have come to check us out. I certainly don’t believe that we exist alone in the Universe.

But my feeling is that someone is just having a laugh.

.

.

If creatures from another world are smart enough to find their way here, I doubt they are impressed by what they see.

.

Back home, I simply had to capture more images of the frozen stuff!

For those suffering heat in the other hemisphere.

.

.

As a refreshment!
