No more lunch!

6th May 2024

Except when feeling especially under-the-weather, I rarely turn down the opportunity of a ride, even if it’s only to the village and back.

Particularly this time of year, there is always something worth seeing.

.

It’s entirely possible to “pop out” for a bag (or three) of carrots and be gone two hours.

With the exception of pouring rain or snow, fair weather is not a requirement, though sunny days always encourage longer excursions.

.

The dear darlings are not satisfied lately with their choices of lunch snacks, so we don’t worry too much about rushing home only to see little noses wrinkle with disappointment, yet again.

Sometimes one has to take a stand:

“Eat or don’t eat! Your choice!”

.

The minute they think you’re not watching, they tuck in to one of the several options they’ve been offered.

.

And the truth of the matter is, Grant’s kitty coffee shop is open at all hours.

.

Meanwhile…

Greenwich has had a change of complexion!

.

Dandelions are a sight to behold.

.

They aren’t the only yellow flower.

In a small wetland nearby, marsh marigolds make a cheerful display.

.

We’ve had a lot of rain and on one of those days we found a large puddle at the end of our path…

.

We had acquired a clover pond but it soon drained.

.

New intensities of green…and red!

.

The woods behind us have reverted to their junglified appearance, invasive species taking off like sprinters out of the starting gate.

This dainty flower is garlic mustard which has been named this year as one to keep at bay.

Shame. I have such a good crop.

.

Now I must beg to be excused.

Willow has just thrown up explosively and expansively, so I must attend…

(Don’t worry. It’s what cats do.)

  1. Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful photos of trees and fields in bloom! All the glory of the colors, yellow, red, and green! I am so impressed with your images that I am even rhyming!
There is no chance that anyone would go hungry in your hospitable home!

  2. Lovely weather, and nice colours in abundance. Ollie loved to eat the same snacks/treats all the time, he wasn’t fussy. 🐕
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. The dandelions are such a beautiful sight. For me, yellow is the colour of summer, it looks cheerful and warm (even if it is not always the case). I wonder if cats, like people, will eat anything when they are really hungry.
