Seeing things

1711/17th February 2024

“Smith, we need to get you in front of a professional hair dresser!”

A fine way to start the day!

“Something’s wrong with my coif?”

Why pay someone to lop off hair when I am quite capable of doing it myself?

.

Last time I was coerced into going to one of those people, the trollop nearly scalped me.

While I sat there watching, as one must, I received negative vibes from the woman, as if I’d had a nerve expecting her to deal with my post-covid mess.

.

Every other person who’s ever cut my hair has been chatty. It’s not something I’m very good at, so I didn’t mind that this woman was totally silent.

But it wouldn’t have hurt her too much to crack a smile at least.

So I manage by myself, though it’s hard seeing the back of ones head.

…..

So much for our “cold snowy” February.

Our nights are still quite cold but by the middle of next week temperatures are predicted to be way above freezing and soon it will be March and Spring.

The end of a non-Winter?

.

An alien invasion?

No. It was Grant opening the fridge just as I took the picture, but I did see something strange not long after.

A large truck was suddenly travelling along 372 backwards. Not slowly, as if backing up, I mean at normal speed.

.

Tilting my badly coifed head, I asked myself if perhaps I was misinterpreting the view. Maybe there was another vehicle towing?

I summoned the connoisseur of hair styles for an opinion and he confirmed:

“What’s the silly bugger doing?”

.

So that was alright. I wasn’t seeing things. The truck was driving backwards and soon it slowed down and appeared to drive off across the field beyond the road, but then I realised it had turned onto the driveway of hill house.

I suppose if you miss your turn and the road isn’t busy? But it wasn’t a few feet and it was a big truck.

.

The world gets weirder all the time.

My camera likes to challenge me as well. I think I’ve mentioned it before. This morning I had proof.

Two images I took at 1007 somehow appeared in the middle of a sequence taken at 1055.

.

When the pictures out of sequence are similar subjects it’s not really noticeable but I knew I hadn’t taken pictures of two birds in a bush on the way home from Greenwich!

Nor did the squirrel on my patio suddenly shape shift into the cemetery!

.

There must be a reason why this happens.

Ideas?

  1. Double exposures on digital cameras are not really possible unless you have one with a setting that allows you to deliberately do that for ‘artistic purposes’. Then again, that would have affected all the photos, not just some.
I cut my own hair with clippers, but I don’t have much left, and as a lady, you have to have ‘the face’ for a crop! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. No, I have no idea why things sometimes appear outside the ordinary … I just think one can’t always explain everything. I only go to a hairdresser every 6 months (I’m not crazy about sitting still in front of a mirror for so long). Good luck with your hair appointment – hopefully at a friendly lady this time. I’m sorry to say, but I hope it doesn’t get warm anytime soon … I still enjoy your snow photos too much.
