Winter arrived yesterday with freezing temperatures but bright sun.
Had it arrived a day or so sooner, the countryside would be white.
.
The fact that we’ve had hardly any snow and mostly very mild temperatures has completely changed the look of fields that are still partly green.
3 years ago we had 31 inches of snow.

.

Off to Clifton Park, in daylight this time.

.
Grant had been this way a few days ago and noticed that the Hudson was running very high, so we wondered what to expect since we had a day of heavy rain recently.

.

At the turn onto River Road there was immediate evidence of flooding…
.
Snow would have been better.

.

In 5 years we’ve never seen it like this.

.
As far as I know, there had been no flood warnings as there usually are.
But it’s much worse further down the Hudson.

.

Turning south.

.
Headinghome at about 3pm.
Traffic! Oh no!
It was the sky I was trying to catch.

.

The clouds were being sucked into a great hoover.

.
Back at the Hudson.

.

We stopped briefly and saw common goldeneye ducks bobbing about.

.
That afternoon light again.

.

Flooded bird house 🙁 and trees.

.
Going north again.
The Hudson was lapping at the road.

.

Chasing that sky!

.
Putt, putt, putt…

.

Driver got tired of putt putt, so we turned off.

.
To be continued…:)
By contrast, we have record-breaking high temperatures for December, though they come with rain. Today was 12C, the 25th might break all records with a top of 15C.
At least you live high up, so can escape the floods.
best wishes, Pete.
I think it’s the first time I’ve seen evidence of road traffic on your blog … and I think I prefer looking more at the full Hudson, ducks on the river and lovely sky photos.
You’re a machine, Carolyn! I can’t keep up with reading all your posts! 😉
