Meanders

.

That day I hadn’t felt much like going out but we had to go and pay the bill at the veterinary clinic and then took a long way home.

There are far too many images to post so I’m putting them in two groups.

.

Long ago when I was on a very special trip, I was told by one of my companions that I ought to go off exploring by myself.

It was horrifying to discover I was being a nuisance. It had been my feeling that exploring together, you point things out to each other.

This is certainly the case when Grant and I ride around enjoying scenery. Your eyes can’t be everywhere at once.

.

Until winter sets in and snow arrives, the woods have a golden carpet.

.

Dead grasses add colour and texture.

.

Previously, when I’ve been sad or troubled, I turned to music for solace and still do.

But now that I live in the country, Nature has become my greatest comfort.

It is impossible not to be lifted by her beauty, which is why I post so many images. It would seem a shame not to share them.

.

Meanders are always rewarding.

.

We’ve never been disappointed.

.

.

Birch trees always catch my eye.

.

They are especially beautiful in the Fall.

.

.

In this photograph there is an actual person.

On foot, no less. We always wave and mostly they wave back.

.

There are times when a road we’ve taken seems not such a good idea and we look for a place to turn around.

Not long ago a woman passenger was shot dead near here, when the car she was in backed into a driveway to turn around.

While not wanting to become paranoid, it is something we have to bear in mind.

.

My Willow was named after beautiful trees!

.

Back in Cambridge, we’re almost naked.

The trees, that is.

.

.

Attempts to photograph the Pretty Tree go mostly frustrated as it is always impossible to stop and rarely possible to even slow down as we pass.

During last Spring’s icestorm, a large topmost branch broke. It is well concealed but still hanging there.

The tree has lost it’s symmetrical, taller shape. But it’s still pretty.

  1. You are right, Carolyn, it would be criminal not to share your stunning photos of the beautiful places! The roads leading to the edge of the world, the trees in all colours of the Fall, the grasses,
the extraordinary pictures of the sky in all weathers, and your musings, especially when your write about Nature being a powerful healer. Thank you!

  2. Agree, it’s much more fun for me to share the beauty of nature with someone. It was definitely a golden day on this outing (with splashes of green in between). And thank you, it was kind of you to share … while you can also look at it again later.

  3. I do love the countryside that you live in, but I could never live in a country where I might get shot for turning my car around in a driveway. That’s the sadness of modern-day America.
    Best wishes, Pete.
