The last gasp of Fall.
.
It has never seemed sad to me before.

.

Now, I think it always will.

.
These are images I took last Tuesday, 31st October in Vermont and New York.

.
It was an impromptu drive.

.

Light fell on patches of colour, here and there

.
Running out the door, I grabbed my fully-charged camera with no back-up.

How many pictures was I likely to take?
As it turned out, rather a lot.

No goosanders this day.

.

“Pops” of colour!

.

.

Hereabouts, I realised my battery was dying

.
It had been impromptu, after all.

.

.

We may not try this in dead of winter.

.

Back on a main road

.
Contrasts!

.

Stopping briefly by the Battenkill River

.
Battery flat, I fell back on the iPhone.
.

.

By then we were almost home

The iPhone is a useful tool which takes great close-up shots of the cats (and people I believe!) I must get to know it better.
The latest version reportedly has a very good camera facility and I am so tempted, but car tires and vet bills and taxes must come first.
Your photos make me homesick. My mother and grandparents were from Glens Falls and I grew up in Scotia. I now live 1000 miles away, and I miss it so. Thank you so much for all your artistry and skill with your cameras!
It is really lovely here. Do you ever come back for visits?
No. No money for such travel, and no close family there to visit. So the closest I come to it are your keen eyes and beautiful images.
That’s too bad but sometimes going back can be a bit sad because everything changes. There are places I would love to see again but my memories are intact. I’m glad you like the pictures. Such a beautiful country.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the stunning picture, especially the sky and the clouds, and the trees, and those roads!
Joanna
Pictures worth using up the battery for.
(But surely a fully-charged camera should last longer? Most of mine will take around 300+ photos before flashing a warning, and last a week or more if I only take a couple of dozen photos in a day.)
The clouds in the last photo is a great shot, even on a phone.
Best wishes, Pete.
Well I suspect it actually wasn’t fully charged but when I get going, I shoot a lot of pictures because from a car so many are duds.
Amazing photo’s as always
I will never tire of Vermont foliage
Great photos Carolyn. I read that to view the Aurora Borealis it was better to use a mobile phone than the human eye as the phone had far superior acuity!
I can believe it! What they can do with photography now is mind blowing! What a gift it is to view so many things we otherwise never could.
Well, the impromptu ride did not disappoint. You have the ability to capture the moment of light and dark so beautifully (I wanted to say this in the previous post, but then my thoughts got stuck on Penny).
