Another day, another excursion. One must take advantage of fair weather.
Heated car seats are a great help on cold days.
.

In Greenwich the icicles were getting longer.
But most of the photos were unsatisfactory, including the token snap above.
.

We found our way to the pond where last summer we’d discovered muskrats.
.

Muskrats do not hibernate but they were keeping a low profile in their dome-shaped shelters.
.

The sky was very soft as if already full of snow which was predicted for the following day.
.

It provided a great back drop for rushes.
.

Icicle photos may continue to elude me, but at last we were able to stop adjacent to a clump of the tall grasses that line our roads.
.

Like hydrangeas, they look good in any season. At least to me.
.

Driving by, they are too close for a decent photograph, but on a winter’s day it was not a problem to stop on a quiet country road.
Although I was still urged to hurry: “We’re on a blind rise!”
As we so often seem to be, or a blind corner.
.

As we resumed our meander, a row of trees came into view.
.

And another row. Not tremendously beautiful as such, but I like their shapes, standing tall and dark against the sky.
.

If you’ve seen my photos before, you may have noticed that I often take such pictures
.

In Winter, when the fields are empty and snow-covered, there are many of the kind.
.

Snow also highlights the long, dark Winter shadows I so like.
Images of Winter.
.
I have never had a car with heated seats. I think I would like to have those, now I am old.
Best wishes, Pete.
Man, it’s like driving with a heating pad, but a towel or seat cover is necessary if your seats are leather or vinyl to avoid butt sweat.
Thank you, Carolyn, for the beautiful winter photos with sky, trees, snow, the tall grasses and the sun behind the trees creating atmospheric shadows. The one thing that makes me cold are the icicles!

Once discovered, heated seats are an absolute necessity!
As well as a heated steering wheel
Your beautiful winter photos help with the heat here in Cape Town (we’re lying in bed with a fan on full blast)! The brown tall grass against the white snow is picture-perfect, and the trees – stripped bare of their summer attire – look almost regal in the winter!
Beautiful photos. Everything is still asleep 🙂
Thank you for the beautiful photos of the winter, Carolyn. I love the contrast of black-and-white in the long shadows. ❤️
