A tiny red head suddenly popped up from under the snow this morning.
It confirmed our assumption that Little Red had taken refuge from the elements in the groundhog burrow which was buried beneath some 8 inches of the powdery stuff.
.

“Wow. Wa’ happened out here?”
.

“You got nuts, missus?”
.

It may have been Little Red who added this decoration to the pristine snow.
.

Animal tracks are so amazingly neat.
.

Although we have an impressive snow-pile beside the garage, it all came from the driveway. The plow came by twice, so at no time were we snowed in. Although going out was the last thing we intended, it is nice to know the road is accessible in case of emergencies.
As we watched the first snow flakes drift down on Sunday morning, we braced for the possibility of damaging wind and a loss of power. Grant dug out numerous flashlights (torches) and placed them strategically around the house.
By early afternoon light snow had become more of a downpour but the air remained still.
.

In the absence of wind, we were able to use the table top as a measuring device. Around 7pm the snow tapered off for a while by which time it amounted to maybe 6 inches. Then overnight another inch or two fell.
We had not lost power and we were not snowed under but elsewhere this weather front did awful damage, particularly in the form of ice.
.

How does such a formation occur, spontaneously?
.

6 inches of snow is enough to be a nuisance and Grant busied himself clearing the walkways and pulling snow off the roof. Unfortunately my spine prevents me assisting, so I was given the lame task of making tea to warm the man up.
Temperatures are seriously cold.
.

By Tuesday morning we seemed to have acquired another couple of inches, so Grant went out again for what has become the daily dig.
Then he went down to do a little more for our neighbour.
.
How lucky you are, Carolyn, to have a friend like Grant! Not only do things that are outside the house, but also helps the neighbour! I love the clever little squirrel!

Looks lovely…from a distance!
That is far too much snow! It makes me doubly glad we have only had one brief snowfall so far this winter. If we had that much snow, I wouldn’t leave the house!
Best wishes, Pete.
It’s probably easy for me to say that your photos are beautiful … but I’m not the one who has to brave the cold weather or shovel away the snow 🙈. It almost feels like I could dive into that soft white snow just like Little Red (and then to run for that hot cuppa tea you’re making)!
Beautiful white winter! I know this so well… 😀 We have -33C today 😀🥶
Stay warm 🧡☕
