August 2012 brought us four more kittens.
The three tabbies were obviously litter mates. I named Alice and Alex and Grant came up with Casper for the third.
.

The little black kitten was the same size and had been hanging out with them, but at the suites he tended to keep to himself. They were all very sweet and no, I don’t always say so, though most young animals can’t help being cute.
.

Casper and Alice seemed joined at the hip. You never saw one without the other and we were very relieved when they got adopted together.
.

They played together.
.

And they thieved together.
.

“Me, a thief?”
Was it Casper who led Alice astray, or vice versa? I couldn’t say.
.

They had such angelic little faces.
My guess is that Alice was the planner and Casper the doer.
.

“Come on, Casper! Why are you hiding back there?”
.

On rare occasions, the boys spent a moment together.
.

Alex was not shy, or timid. He just appeared reserved.
He was another of those I would have kept in a heartbeat.
.

He had sweet little ear tufts.
.

Alex hopped up to have a word with Sam.
How quickly kittens grow. These four had not been tiny when they arrived and soon they had the look of teenagers.
.

The senior cats were very accepting of the kittens and appeared to enjoy the presence of youngsters. Except Tinkerbelle, who glared at them from up on her shelf and couldn’t understand how “M” could bear to be down there on the floor with them.
.

But “M” seemed very taken with the kittens and often watched their games. Perhaps he was remembering the days when he and Oliver used to play together.
Or just taking seriously his role as house-dad.
.

Sam was a poppet. If we couldn’t find a home for this little black cat, we wouldn’t mind at all.
.

Though, as has been pointed out, no black cat is really black and 80% of cats are tabby. You can clearly see Sam’s stripes. We took him to the vet one day for some sort of routine check or vaccine and they asked if they could keep him.
How could we say no? Why would we want to?
So Sam became a clinic cat, a meeter and greeter. It was a job he was well suited for and after all, it came with free medical care.
.
Sam found the perfect home at the clinic. I like the name Casper for a cat, it suits cats nicely.
Best wishes, Pete.
I love the special bond that existed between Casper and Alice (and was relieved to read that they were adopted together). And Sam got the best of both worlds, right? Meeter and greeter with free medical care 😉.
Nice! Glad Sam was able to help as the vet’s assistant 😄
Such a sweet group — I loved reading about their little personalities, especially Alice and Casper. And Sam’s ending is just perfect 💛🐾
