Contrasts

14th November 2025

Returning from the Schuylerville locks on Friday, we darted off cross country to avoid an annoying slow-poke on route 372. The view is great from up here and we like to call hello to various animals along the way.

The sky has taken on its Winter complexion that I like so much.

.

A pair of fawns posed for a picture, unusual as they usually flee.

.

The trees in the foreground had shed all their leaves yet still had an attractive reddish tinge.

.

This hill is picturesque at any time of year and perhaps 2 minutes from our front door.

The above hill is in view of our house.

A study of contrasts!

.

As dawn broke on Saturday, freezing mist rolled over the hills.

.

And into the valley.

.

Coating every surface with a thin layer of ice.

.

Captivated, I went outside and noticed a crescent Moon.

.

All of this took place in a matter of minutes.

.

It may not seem like much to get excited about, yet I always do.

.

Be it the rising Sun,

.

or a bird in a frosty bush, I shall always be awestruck by the natural world.

  1. Love the fawns next to the road and the late autumn-coloured trees. Misty scenes are always beautiful (except when I’m driving and I’m also not so sure about the ‘thin layer of ice’ 🙈) … but wow, you are lucky that Nature almost spoils you with a spectacle every day.
