Tuesday’s light first snow did not immediately melt away.
That night brought a further dusting to refresh it.
.

Winter woods near Cambridge.
.

During a brief outing we found more tamaracks which looked pretty decked in snow.
.

Their view is often obscured by other vegetation.
But their colour seems almost luminous.
.

Once you notice these trees, you can’t stop seeing them.
.

Against the snow they were particularly glorious.
.

They stand out like beacons.
.

It’s as if they are designed to be markers of some sort.
.

Navigation aides perhaps?
.

Tamaracks are not the only trees that demand to be noticed. So too do sycamores.
They always seem to me to be waving.
“Halloo! Over here. It’s us!”
.

Willows make a pretty picture too.
.

Both kinds of Willow.
.

Despite appearances, this was not heavy snow.
Not wet or slushy or in any way a nuisance.
.

Someone who hates the stuff even commented how nice this was.
How wonderful if it was only ever thus!
.
That looks like more than enough snow for me. But it does look lovely in the photos.
Best wishes, Pete.
No, that isn’t bigfoot – BUT – Behind and to the left of IT is a large face of a man wearing a hat!
!!!
Perhaps I need new glasses!
Thank you, Carolyn, for your heroic attempts to persuade us that snow and cold are nice in reality, and not only in photos! Do your cats share the views about the beauty of snow?! We are going to have a temperature drop here, and I am ready with full heating on and a few cardigans!

These pictures are so beautiful, it almost makes me wish for snow…
very beautifull picture 👌
You’re right, the tamarack trees are beautiful in the snowy weather … and so is the unexpected photo of Willow!
Snow is a joy for sure. A treasure to be held close in feeling and memory.
