Every Fall is different, very much driven by weather.
Autumn is a time I enjoy for its sheer beauty, yet it is increasingly nostalgic as one cannot fail to notice a deterioration of the environment due to climate change.
.

Some trees launched early into their Fall colours and too many never leaved at all this year.
In California the giant redwoods are on fire which is hard to bear.
.

But what good does it do to give in to despair? I clutch at little things to lift my heart.
The sight of an injured bird, coping with its disability.
The other night the trail-cam caught a fox running off with a bird it had caught and we feared it might be Gimpy, but I am glad to say it was still visiting the feeder this morning.
Perhaps it would be better if the fox had caught an injured bird? This I acknowledge, but I can’t help routing for the ones I know!

Another dog-fix! They always cheer me up. It is such a temptation to get out of the car and introduce myself, but it is neither wise nor what the dog might like, so I talk quietly to it and hope it receives my good vibe.
.

Here’s a new WP glitch. After posting a full page image of the dog, I decided instead to make it two side by side images but it won’t allow me to delete the above.
Never had this happen before.

One recent evening, Grant spotted a quartet of deer in the lower field.
An hour later, I caught sight of them coming past our front window, just before dark.
.

I had but a moment to attempt a couple of inadequate photos, but I always try.

It is such a joy to see these beautiful creatures. There were two fawns accompanied by a juvenile and their mother. They went off down the drive.
Another brief post today as we are out again shortly, to another destination.
It’s a busy time!
On a day like today, Carolyn, it is better to be busy, as the memory of the events that happened 24 years ago is heartbreaking.

A good time to be out and about to catch the changing leaves!
I had an errand this morning and while out saw a magnificent murmuration. I suspect that despair is part of our lived response to so much loss, yet it is not all we feel, thus joy, surprise, and a sense of magic/awe. Perhaps out task is simply to make room for all of it; no easy task….
A murmuration would really cheer me up!
Even your brief posts contain wonderful pictures! Bust here, too…
Thank you, now I’ve also gotten my dog-fix (what a cutie)! I hope your busy day has produced new beautiful places … or just the happy reunion of old (beautiful) places 😊.
