While on the computer I sometimes tune in to YouTube and have it play music based on my perceived preferences. Among those is a liking for opera so it was unsurprising to find myself listening to such a choice recently. Enjoying the sound, I abandoned what I was doing to see who was singing, which I how I discovered the young man in the attached link where he sings a duet from Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers with Placido Domingo.
Rather taken with him, I listened to other performances and learned that he has the most extraordinary range. He apparently sings in 12 different languages. He is from Kazakhstan.
Just something different for today.
Goodness, Carolyn, I cannot find words to thank you for something different! Indeed, Dimash is beyond words, wonderfully different! I’ve already listened to a few songs, and I am hooked! You are a great discoverer, and I am bowing in gratitude!

That duet is one of my favourite pieces of music. I think I first heard it played by a colliery brass band with euphoniums as the tenors. This is also quite magnificent.
Completely different, and completely wonderful. Thank you!
Wow, what a wonderful talent this young man has (and that he can sing in 12 different languages)! That was a great start to my day – thank you for sharing.
During my time living in Central London, i had a brief flirtation with live opera. I mostly went to see the ‘classics’, like Carmen, Aida, Turandot, Madame Butterfly, and Pagliacci. The tickets were always very expensive, but the amazing costumes and scenery made it a great experience along with the singing, even when I didn’t understand the words. To this day, my favourite is The Flower Duet, from ‘Lakme’.
